Election 2014The following was written by me on behalf of a candidate for Congress who sadly failed in his bid to represent his party. I love America and Americans. I spent the better part of my life fighting to defend them. Now I want to free them to pursue their dreams, whatever those dreams may be. The only thing I can see standing in the way is the government. After several decades of cancerous growth spurred by well-intentioned programs and projects, our dreams have grown dimmer, but Americans have never lost the ability to dream. I've heard many of them as I've visited friends and neighbors all over California's 45th Congressional District. Of course, other people in the world dream, but have you ever heard of the French Dream? How about the Russian Dream or the Arab Dream? The African Dream? The Chinese Dream? Of course not. However, you know there are many people in all those places who dream of coming to America and sharing ours. Fortunately for America, they've come and contributed mightily. Now, let's dream together and get our economy back on the right track. How can we get all able-bodied Americans back to work, provide for those who can't, and keep our nation strong? Obviously, we won't succeed doing what we've been doing, will we? No, we have to revive the fundamental concepts of American capitalism that worked so well before the progressives mutated them into crony-capitalism.
Those who say it can't be done simply don't have faith in America and Americans, not the kind of faith I have. I don't care if government has spent all of the wealth that ever was and borrowed trillions of future wealth. We can and will create new wealth, far more than enough to pay off the debt and save for the future. However, we can't do it if government keeps on borrowing the capital that businesses and entrepreneurs need to grow and create jobs. You know we can do it. Just look at how well we've succeeded in spite of the best efforts of the government to stand in our way. Right now Russia is holding the European Union hostage, keeping them from interfering as they begin rebuilding the Evil Empire. The Europeans complain about Russia's incursion into the Ukraine, but they are powerless to act so long as Russia has the power to cut off Europe's energy supply. America is immune to that threat because we have developed our own energy reserves, greater reserves than those of Russia and the Arab Peninsula combined. The government didn't do it. In fact, they have stood in our way as we developed them ourselves. The Democrats are meeting even now, complaining about the technologies that we are using to free ourselves from foreign energy resources. There's an old adage, almost a cliché: You have to spend money to make money. It's the argument that progressives have been using to jump start the economy. Unfortunately, as they have proven, it doesn't work when government spends the money. The politicians and bureaucrats simply don't have the experience or inclination to spend it wisely. No, we need to leave the money in the hands of us, We the People, who will spend it more wisely. What will we spend it on? Simple. We'll spend it in pursuit of our American dreams.
