Oh Dark ThirtyHere's a hint: Don't do as I do. You would never want a marriage like my first one. You would never want to use the same numbers I use when purchasing lottery tickets. You would never want to reinstall a computer and go through the trials and tribulations that I've experienced this week. Trust me, you really wouldn't...

Election 2014 I've heard it said that a young person who is not liberal has no heart and an older one who is not conservative has no brain. I suppose that makes me a heartless old fart. I was never a liberal. I have been a registered Democrat on occasion when I lived where Democrats dominated. It was my goal to be able to vote in primary elections for whichever Democrat was going to win the general election. However, I could never register as a Democrat again, no matter the consequences. That party has sold its soul, promising anything to anybody, even when conflicting promises are made to opposing forces, just to build a coalition to win elections.
The following video gives me hope that conservatism is on the rise. I have enough hope to return to the political fray for the first time in 50 years and work for conservative candidates. We all need them, even those who are foolish enough to follow their hearts forgetting that "the road to hell is paved with the best intentions". Oh Dark ThirtySo many injustices, so little justice. It's impossible to get through life, especially a long-lived one, without encountering stories of injustice such as this one. This is simply one of those stories I had to share beyond the social media. Thus, I have shared it here in hopes that it will receive even wider distribution. If nothing else, please pass it on to your social audience and reblog.
Blogging I was really enjoying video blogging and felt that I was improving. Visitors to my blog seem to think so, too. Then my computer went on a holiday and it may have appeared that so did I. Well, I haven't. I've been struggling to repair it by any means possible short of gutting it. Well, nothing worked. Thus, I am left no other option. Gutting will occur this coming weekend. Until then, I can't produce any more videos. I'll return to my series on entrepreneurship when I can video record them. For now, I'm going to provide you with some insight into my next novel. The manuscript has been completed for several months now. Packaging it – titling it, producing a cover, and crafting some promotional materials – seems to be more difficult than writing it.
The new novel is set in Korea during the time of the “Police Action” there, otherwise known as “The Forgotten War”. I have mounds of research for those who share my interest in history. There's enough for many blog postings. Hopefully the cover reveal will follow soon. Please be patient. I promise that I'll be here the rest of this week with other good stories to tell. 3/19/2014 0 Comments Did you hear me? I hate computers. I hate them even more after the events of todayBlogging Yes, I'm repeating myself. I hate computers. The message bears repeating, especially after the events of today. It seems that my computer was compelled to add insult to injury. After several attempts to repair it myself, the computer sent me away and repaired itself. Blogging I love computing, but hate the computer. It's true. My career in the computing industry spanned almost 20 years. During that time I built them, sold them, programmed them, and repaired them. In time I rose to become an architect of network systems and applications, ultimately leading the development of complex Internet portals for multi-national corporations. I was self-employed most of those years and taught computing and programming to fill the gaps between gigs. I began every class with the same opening line, "I hate computers".
The audience would chuckle briefly until they realized that I was dead serious. The computer should work. No questions asked. No bugs. No glitches. This is only logical and the computer is a machine built on logic to perform logically. You see, I can differentiate between the machine and the function. Interestingly, I feel the same way about photography, another passion of mine. I love pictures and hate cameras. I spent another career in the photographic industry and was always surprised to meet someone with the latest top-of-the-line hanging from a strap around their neck with all the expensive gadgets attached and discovered they had no film. They loved cameras and couldn't care less about pictures. You've met people like that with their computers, haven't you. The latest monster PC and all they do is surf the net and email. Why am I mentioning this? My computer has failed me and I hate it. I discovered this when some devices and applications began failing. It seems that it had become infected with malware which my Nortons failed to detect, so I had to purchase another program to ferret out the offending programs - all 6000 of them! Most everything is working now except for my webcam. Thus I can't regale you with my handsome visage and dulcet tones. Please be patient. I'll be back to complete my series on entrepreneurship as soon as I finish venting my spleen on my machine. Entrepreneur Let's get back to work, America. Here's an idea that some ambitious entrepreneur may want to use to build a new business, create jobs, and make a fortune. You may view the pilot film mentioned in this video blog - Denver - in its entirety at YouTube
3/12/2014 1 Comment Are you or someone you care about unemployed? Maybe you should try starting your own businessEntrepreneur On balance, I'm happy. Sure, I've had my dark moments, especially when I've been unemployed. However, I always weathered them by starting my own business. Maybe entrepreneurship will work for you if you're unemployed or someone you care about who's unemployed. Give it a try. America California today hardly resembles the state I found when I moved here in 1975. Now, a proposal soon to be voted upon will alter it even more radically. Should you care? I think you will after you hear my description of it and the consequences. 3/8/2014 0 Comments Are you working yourself to death pursuing the American dream or do you wish you were just working?America A controversial television commercial put me in mind of an experience I once had at a engine parts shop in Newport Beach, California. A French yachtsman on an around-the-world cruise happened to be there shopping for a part when I arrived. This commercial reminded me of his complaints about Americans and all of the holidays they took off from work. Really? Aren't Americans the ones who work themselves to death pursuing the American Dream? |
